Über den Artikel

A charming graphic novel version of Allen Ginsbergs signature poem, Howl, with art work by Eric Drooker.

For the last four years, Eric Drooker has worked as the Animation Designer for a film about Allen Ginsbergs ground-breaking poem, Howl, that had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in February, 2010. Eric Drooker recognized that the art work he created for the film would make a powerful book as well. This volume illustrates the full text of Ginsbergs epic poem in the popular form of a graphic novel, and adapts the rich imagery from the films animated sequences.

HOWL, A GRAPHIC NOVEL visualizes the poem stanza by stanza with illustrations drawn from Drookers storyboards, key frames, concept art, and cells from the Monk studios animation. The books introduction tells the story of the genesis of Ginsbergs poem, the obscenity trial it spawned, and its subsequent victory. It will also describe the making of the film, possibly using photos of Allen Ginsberg and his Beat companions in the 50s alongside photos of James Franco and the actors who portray Jack Kerouac, Peter Orlovsky, and Neal Cassady.
